Birth Doula
Kimber Brown
Services
Our first step in this journey is to meet in person to see if I am the right doula for you. It is very important that your partner is included in this decision, so please bring him.
If you decide to hire me as your doula, we will need to meet prenatally to discuss your plans and preferences for birth as well as coping methods. I can help you write your birth plan if needed. To prepare for childbirth, Pregnancy Childbirth and the Newborn is a must. If your partner wants to be really involved, he could read The Birth Partner.
As your professionally trained birth doula:
-
I will help meet your emotional needs while your doctor or midwife and nurses meet you medical needs.
-
I will help you prepare for & endure the marathon of birth.
-
I will help you rise above your contractions so you don't feel consumed by them.
-
I will help you relax and release tension in your body so as to not inhibit your progress.
-
I will help you with breathing and position changes to make you as comfortable as possible.
-
I will help enhance your birth experience with your companion and not interfere.
Birth is a time to feel cared for – a time to feel safe.
If you're intending to breastfeed, I highly recommend reading The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding and also contact Sydney at http://lllwa.org/groups/la-leche-league-marysville. If complications arise and you need a specialist, please contact Brandi at www.mountainmamalactation.com
I intend to visit you soon after your birth to help you adjust with your new family member and life style. I will follow up with you again around 6 weeks.

As a Doula, I Do Not:
I do not perform any clinical tasks
As a member doula, I do not perform any clinical or medical tasks such as taking blood pressure or temperature, fetal heart tone checks, vaginal examinations or postpartum clinical care. Neither will I diagnose or treat in any modality.
I do not make decisions for you
It is not my business to make decisions for you. I will help you get the information you need so you can make your own informed decisions as to what is best for you and your family.
I do not speak to the staff on your behalf
I will encourage my client and her partner to ask questions of her care provider and to express their concerns and preferences to them. My role is not to speak for my client, but to facilitate them speaking for themselves. I will be professional and respectful of your care providers.
Geographic Boundaries
I'm able to accompany clients in the vicinity of Everett, Monroe, Snohomish, Marysville, and Arlington.

I do not project my own beliefs onto your experience
I will be unbiased in your decisions and experience. It is your birth experience, not mine. I will support you on your goals and any needed changes.
